Why We Need David Dewhurst in the U.S. Senate

Texas Republicans have a choice on July 31st.

We can vote for a conservative with a proven record of lowering taxes, cutting spending, and balancing budgets. Or we can vote for someone who gives a good speech. (Where have we heard that before?)

We can vote for someone who is running alongside Texans and will fight for Texans. Or we can vote for someone who has benefited from millions of dollars from out-of-state groups and other special interests in Washington, D.C.

We can vote for a strong leader who knows how to get results in the legislature. Or we can vote for someone who will serve as the “errand boy” for other states’ U.S. Senators, even while refusing to support his own fellow Texans.

We can vote for someone who has stated clearly that he will limit himself to two terms. Or we can vote for someone who supports term limits for everyone else, but refuses to commit to term limits for himself.

We can vote for a self-made Texas businessman. Or we can vote for a lawyer who “likes to flaunt his Ivy League pedigree.”

Indeed, Texas Republicans have a choice on July 31st, a choice that is defined by a clear contrast: We can vote for proven conservative David Dewhurst. Or we can vote for smooth talking Ted Cruz.
